I went in for a fill two weeks ago and the new NP could not find my port...it turns out that it was right by my belly button. I'm a relatively new bandster...but my surgeon came in and explained to her that it's easier to find and easier to manipulate as weight comes off and is less lightly to bulge out. So my scarring pattern is different from others that I've seen shared on the web...I have a small incision below my breast and two on the sides of my tummy...these 3 small incisions were really small and are almost invisible now 7 months later. I do have a 1 inch incision near my belly button though. The NP had never seen that before...usually the port is much higher.
Just curious.
1 inch to my left and up a little from my belly button
ReplyDeleteMine is about 4 inches on my right side, he was able to reuse my gallbladder removal scar..it is still under a layer of fat, but if I press on my stomach I can feel it..
ReplyDeleteMine is one inch above my belly button and to the left about one inch too.
ReplyDeleteI have a photo of my bandages here:

It's the bandage with the blood :)
I can feel it quite easily (and always have been able to) since surgery. My doc has never had trouble finding it which is great.
Mine is pretty much right next to my belly button. I actually have a 1-inch scar INSIDE my belly button, which kinda freaked me out at first, but now I realize it's so it won't be so noticeable. I recently felt my own port for the first time... I've never gone looking before because it kinda grosses me out, even when my doctor does it.
ReplyDeleteMine is 2 or 3 inches above and a little to the right of my belly button and the scar itself is horizontal and about 1.5 or maybe 2 inches long. I can easily feel my port and if I'm laying right even some of the tubing leading away from it.
ReplyDeleteMine is smack in the middle right below my sternum - about 6 inches above my belly button. Funny that everyone has a different placement. I don't think mine will show when I'm at goal. I have a huge ribcage, so I think it will always kind of hide it.
ReplyDeleteGood question!!!
that is crazy that we all have ports in different places!! Mine is roughly in the same place as Read's...It sticks out now and I can see it but as no one will ever see the wrinkly mess that is my stomach it isn't a big problem :)

Mine is about 2 inches below my belly button on my left side.
ReplyDeleteHi, Rachel! Here's a photo with my port location labeled... http://chroniclesfrombandland.blogspot.com/2010/12/scar-attraction-revisited-again.html
ReplyDeleteMine is the same as Lapband Gal and Kellie. It seems to kinda move around though... probably not a good thing. LOL
ReplyDeleteHaha, I was totally being sarcastic about the food on the plane :o) Now, if it was Korean Air or Singapore Air, I actually WOULD be excited about the food!
ReplyDeleteMine is about 3 inches above my Belly button and about 1 inch to the left. Mine sticks out a bit, and is very easily found by touch!!
ReplyDeleteMy PCP Doctor, in an examination, felt it and thought that it was a Tumor or something, and was ready to write out an order for a CT Scan or something!
We reminded him of my Lap Band Surgery, and he was fascinated!! Apparently, I am the only patient in his practice that has had the Surgery!! LOL
My port is about one inch to the right of my belly button.
ReplyDeleteMINE IS RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF MY STOMACH. ABOVE THE BELLY BUTTON ABOUT 6 INCHES UP. WEIRD I KNOW. I WAS RESEARCHING TO SEE IF ANYONE ELSE HAD THERES PLACED HERE. WHEN I BEND OVER IT HURTS MY STOMACH. I WAS BANDED ON 5-20-2011.
