Sometimes I Feel Like I have a Million Miles to Go...

Yesterday one of the admins(who is obese) at work was talking to me and said, "People like us really need to stay away from cake".  "DEFLATING BALLOON SOUND HERE"...I wanted to tell her, "Don't you notice the weight I've lost?  I don't deserve to be in the obese club anymore. Don't lump/categorize me with you!"  Then my born again thin colleague (He used to be 250 lbs but lost 70 lbs 15 years ago and is a health nut now)....kept going on and on and on about how I should do strength training and moms who don't take care of themselves aren't doing anyone favors...."DEFLATING BALLOON SOUND HERE"

Truth is I've lost weight but I have a long way to go.  After feeling disappointed today, I decided that I'm going to kick it up a notch with the pouch test and exercise more.  My born again thin colleague is right...its just his delivery is really annoying.

Thanks for listening

  1. You work with really annoying people.

It is ok for you to tell them to stuff it (in a polite, professional way of course). They don't have the right to comment on your weight or health, and you don't have to put up with it, especially if it is going to deflate your balloon.

    Hugs.

  3. That is just beyond rude - she has no right to say that and he had no business telling you to exercise more. Reminds me of when my boss who I like very much made a comment that I don't need lapband surgery and should just be able to do it on my own implying it was "the easy way out". I was complaining that our insurance didn't cover it. Needless to say I did not tell him that I got it and he has been commenting on how much happier I seem lately! I will tell him eventually. . .

  4. I agree your coworkers are seriously overstepping boundaries. What happened to manners? Anyhoo...don't let them deflate your balloon. You may have more steps to take on your journey but it doesn't take away from what you've already accomplished.

  7. Don't let them get to you - if anything, thank them internally for reminding you of some great tricks!

  9. Have you ever noticed the SOUND a deflating balloon makes??? It sounds like a HUGE (for lack of a nicer word...) FART! Take these odd, rude, and most obnoxious comments for what they're worth, and call it "mouth gas".... Keep THAT little thought in your head the next time one of those gas bags start spewing "gaseous" comments again!!

I've got your back Friend, and you're my motivation!

  10. hhaha I like Lisa's comment :) One thing it did make me think about though..is it sounds like both of them were fighting over having you in their camp :) maybe that is a kinda good thing?? not the advice because that was just crappy..but the..you are part of my group..no you are part of mine thing.

your fat friend considers you like her...and your now thin friend considers you like her. It means they are both very much noticing I would guess.

    xxxooo
