Flashbacks of the Crazy Way I Used to Eat and the Realization that I'm not an NFL Football Player

It's pizza night at our house every Friday.  It's a cooking break for me and a food that my little boys think of as divine.  I was thinking that I already ate my moderately sized dinner and I'm not going to have pizza and that I rarely eat pizza now. I've come a long way.  Even 6 months ago, Pizza Fridays often meant 5-6 slices washed down with two Diet Cokes.   Weekend often involved Thai, Italian, Chinese or Gourmet Meals with my husband (Mr. High Metabolism) sharing 2 entrees, appetizers and dessert.   I once remember going out to lunch with colleagues and ordering shrimp linguine, having a salad, sharing a calamari appetizer and then sharing a plate of fried Italian donuts with a ganache type sauce.  My eating was out of control..almost an unconscious impulse.  Now the thought of those eating habits really grosses me out.  Thank you Lap Band.

Do you have any crazy eating flashbacks?

PS I do eat all the aforementioned foods but I don't allow myself the NFL Football player portions of the past.

  1. Its amazing when we look back on "the way we where".. (can you hear the music rolling in) Memories...
We did Pizza Friday two..and somehow there was only 1 slice left over.. now we debate should we get a medium pizza for the three of us.. Its amazing how much food we really need to eat to function.. not 5000 kcal.. maybe 1200 if we are active. So this is what they call the journey.. lots of self discovery, and personal growth.. be well my friend...

  2. Yep! I can't believe I used to eat an appetizer, an entire entree AND dessert. I used to wonder if what I was ordering would be enough...now I look for the smallest thing on the menu. I used to "snack" on a burger and fries. Ugh. We sure have changed!

  5. It is pretty wild to think about how we used to eat. Not just the foods, but the portions! I LOVE pizza, but I don't enjoy eating it anymore. The thought of taking teeny tiny bites and chewing it into mush just doesn't seem that appetizing, lol.

  6. I sometimes have the guilt of not "cleaning my plate" when I go out to eat, but I'm thankful for the band.

  7. I am beginning to realize exactly how much goes into my pie hole since I've been logging my food - and it may not have been NFL amounts of food but it was college football amounts of food! Mercy..

  8. I SOOO relate. Friday nights were my big binge nights. After working such long weeks, Fridays were my night to just relax, breathe and unwind..I rewarded myself with food. During the days on Friday, I used to plan my reward. Whether chinese, pizza, etc. it was always in mass quantities, as if I was ordering for 3...i didn't taste the food, I didn't stop when I was full..I was feeding my emotions not my hunger...it is such a great feeling to be in a place where you don't want to do that, can't do it and can't believe you ever did it!

  10. I could easily eat half a large pizza plus a soda and salad bar. We ordered pizza on Friday and I had ONE piece. And I couldn't have eaten more.

  11. I find it unREAL to think of the portions I ate pre-surgery. It is, indeed, crazy. Why didn't I ever see it as the unhealthy eating plan it actually was?!
