Vitamins Supplements? Advice Please

I take chewable multi vitamins now because my dietian and surgery practice recommended it.  Before surgery I used to take Vitamin D and Fatty Amino Acid supplements.  I really loved them.  My OB recommended them to counteract the effects of peri menopause.  They are gel capsules but my dietian recommended against these vitamins after surgery.  Do you know why?  Aren't gel's fast dissolving?  Are any of you taking supplements?
I appreciate your advice!!

  1. I am just not able to take pill form (or soft gel) vitamins anymore. I have been taking and doing well with (my nails & hair really show it) taking 2 flintstones multivitamins a day. They don't taste all nasty. I also take a chewable calcium supplement. I looked into the gummy multi-vitamin, but they didn't have iron. I am going to also start taking a gummy fiber due to other issues. I hope this helps.

  2. You might not be able to swallow the gel tabs. I take chewable Viactiv multivitamin and a separate iron tablet. I also take 3 calcium chews. I take 3 biotin tables~they help with hair loss. The last thing I take is sublingual B12. Hope that helps!

  3. I could see gels getting stuck and really sticking! Just having a melted gel vitamin is a mess to clean up so maybe that has something to do with it! I like gummies! But I'll see what the surgeon suggests!

  4. I can't help you on this one, but it's interesting to read what others are suggesting. I will be sure to jot these suggestions down in my handy notebook. Thanks for the question - and the information!

  5. You can get liquid fatty acid supplements (I'm assuming you mean like fish oil?). Search for this "Coromega Omega-3 Supplement, Orange Flavor, Squeeze Packets" on Amazon. This product doesn't taste too bad. (I could send you a sample if you want.)

  6. I am also a gummy girl-they are only 10 dollars for a big old jar of them at Costco. I also have some liquid vitamin D and mix with OJ.

You might be able to do just fine with the regular vitamins at first. It took almost a year before I had to start crushing and then finally moved to liquid meds.
